Walk round outside and look up at the vents under the eaves, at each gable end and along the ridge.
Soffit vents should be open: not painted over, stuffed with a nest or covered by new siding.
A gable vent's louvers should be clear and its screen whole.
With binoculars, look along the top for the ridge vent: even all the way, not lifted or flattened.
At the attic hatch, switch your light off: you should see daylight at the eaves, above the insulation.
Look from the ladder: don't climb in.Where the insulation meets the eaves, foam baffles should hold it back so air can pass.
Blocked vents, missing baffles, or frost in the attic: ask Handyman for an insulation pro.
