5 steps

Tap a step to watch it again.

  1. Move everyone away from the danger, and keep children and pets back.

Don't put yourself in danger to reach someone.
  2. Call 911 if anyone is hurt, can't wake up or can't breathe. Stay on the line and do what they say.

Don't move someone who may be badly hurt, unless they're in more danger where they are.
  3. Once people are clear, stop what caused it if you safely can: switch it off, or shut the water.

Smoke, gas or a CO alarm? Get out instead, and call from outside.
  4. Close the door or block the way, and tell everyone in the house to stay clear.

  5. Once everyone is safe, tell Handyman what happened, and ask for the pro who fixes it.
