Something's come loose overhead: keep clear
Keep everyone out from under it, don't climb up to reach it, and take photos for a pro.

5 steps
Tap a step to watch it again.
Move people and pets out from under it, and out of the room if it's big. Keep them out.
Don't stand under it to look closer.Don't stand on a chair or a ladder to push it back or pull it down.
It can fall the moment you touch it.If it's a light or a ceiling fan, switch off its breaker at the panel, then leave it alone.
Photograph it from the doorway or the ground, close enough to see how it's hanging.
Ask Handyman for the right pro: a contractor for a ceiling, an electrician for a fixture, an arborist for a branch.
What you need
- Your phone, for photos
Call a pro if
- A ceiling is sagging, bulging or cracking: keep everyone out and call a pro today
- A light or fan is hanging by its wires: switch off its breaker and call an electrician
- A large branch hangs over the house or a power line: call an arborist or your power utility

Handyman says: Keep clear. Send me photos; I'll find a pro.
Free for every home. Handyman asks a few questions, then books a pro it trusts.

a pro do it?
