Tap a step to watch it again.

  1. Note the ends at the valve and at the fridge, and get a braided fridge line long enough to leave a loop behind it.

  2. Find the valve for the fridge's line, behind it, under the sink or below the kitchen, and turn it clockwise until it stops.

Turn it by hand. If it won't close, stop and turn off the main.
  3. Unplug it, then slide it straight out from the wall, slowly, watching the line behind it.

Get a helper: never pull or tip a fridge alone.
  4. Set a towel down. Unscrew the old line at the fridge, then at the valve, and drain it into a bowl.

  5. Thread each nut on straight by hand until it's snug, then a quarter turn more with a wrench.

    Too tight cracks the fitting.
  6. Open the valve slowly and wipe each end with a dry paper towel. Damp means snug that nut a little more.

  7. Coil the spare line in a loose loop behind the fridge, plug it in, and slide it back without kinking the line.

  8. A valve that drips or won't close, one clamped onto the pipe, or a nut that still leaks: turn off the main and ask Handyman for a plumber.
