  1. Pull out the lint screen and peel the lint off. Do this before or after every load.

  2. Every few months, scrub the screen with warm soapy water and a soft brush to clear the film dryer sheets leave. Let it dry completely.

  3. With the screen out, run a narrow vacuum nozzle down into the slot it sits in. Lint collects down there too.

  4. Unplug the dryer and slide it out from the wall.

If the dryer runs on gas, move it gently and don't disconnect or kink the gas line.
  5. Loosen the clamp, slide the hose off the back, and vacuum out the hose and the dryer's outlet.

  6. Outside, make sure the vent's flap opens and nothing blocks it. Clear out any lint you can reach.

  7. Reattach the hose and its clamp, push the dryer back without crushing the hose, and plug it in.

If the hose is plastic or foil, replace it with a metal duct.
