Check the joints where the tub, the shower, the sink and the backsplash meet the wall. Redo any caulk that's cracked, peeling or stained: the same steps work on all of them.
Cut and scrape out all the old caulk with a plastic scraper, or a utility knife held low.
Cut away from yourself, and keep the blade flat so it doesn't scratch the tub.Wipe the joint with rubbing alcohol to lift soap and mildew, then let it dry completely.
Run painter's tape along both sides of the joint, leaving a narrow gap where the caulk will go.
Cut the tube's tip small, then squeeze a steady bead into the gap, moving at an even pace.
Smooth the bead with a wet fingertip, then pull the tape off while the caulk is still wet.
Keep water off it for as long as the tube says, usually a day.
