What’s involved
No hands-on steps here: what the job is, what a pro does, and what to have ready.
Measure the opening's width, height and depth, and check the new machine will fit under the counter.
A small hot-water line runs from a valve under the sink to the inlet under the machine's front.
Its drain hose loops up high under the counter, then joins the sink's drain or the disposal, so dirty water can't run back.
It plugs into an outlet under the sink, or it's wired into a box under its front. Wired in, or a new outlet, is an electrician's.
They shut off the water, connect the line, the drain and the power, level it, fix it to the counter and run it to check for leaks.
Clear the sink cabinet, keep the new machine's manual, and take photos of the valve, the drain and the outlet under the sink.
Ask Handyman for an appliance installer, and an electrician too if it needs new power.
