Decide whether the blind sits inside the window's opening or on the wall above it.
For inside, measure the opening's width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest. Measure the height too.
Hold each bracket where the instructions say, near each end, and mark its screw holes with a pencil.
Drill small pilot holes and screw the brackets on. Use anchors where there's no wood behind.
Stand on a steady step stool, not a chair.Slide the blind's top rail into the brackets and snap their covers shut.
Lower it, raise it and tilt the slats. It should run straight and stay where you leave it.
Wind any loose cord round a cleat high on the wall.
A loose cord can strangle a young child. Keep cords out of reach, or choose cordless. The screws won't hold, the frame is soft or cracked, or the window needs a ladder to reach: ask Handyman for a handyman.
