Tip each chair gently onto its back, or lift one end of a table, and look at the bottom of each leg.
Felt worn thin, packed with grit, gone hard or missing: replace it. Grit in felt scratches the floor.
Peel the old pad off, and scrape off any glue left behind with a plastic scraper.
Wipe the foot clean and let it dry, so the new pad sticks.
Pick a pad the size of the foot. Press it on firmly and hold it for a few seconds.
Slide it back and forth: it should glide quietly. Look at the floor under the worst ones for scratches.
