Unplug the UV system's controller and give the lamp a few minutes to cool.
Never look at a lit UV lamp: it burns eyes and skin.At the end of the steel tube, take off the cap and pull the plug off the lamp's end.
Hold it by its ends and slide it straight out of the glass sleeve. Leave the sleeve in place.
Wear clean cotton gloves: skin oil on the glass dims it.Slide the new lamp in, holding only its ends, and push the plug back on until it seats.
Cap the end, plug the controller in, check its light is on, and reset its timer as the manual shows.
The old lamp holds a little mercury: wrap it and take it to a household hazardous waste drop-off.
Water at the tube's end, a cracked sleeve, or no light with the new lamp: drink bottled water and ask Handyman for a water treatment pro.
