Never swim with a missing or broken drain cover
Check every drain and suction cover before anyone swims. A missing, cracked or loose one closes the pool until it's replaced.

Before anyone swims, look at each drain cover on the pool's floor and each suction fitting on its walls.
A safe cover is whole, sits flat and is held down by all of its screws.
Turn the pump off and keep everyone out of the water until a pool pro replaces it.
A drain's pull can hold a swimmer under, or catch hair, jewellery or loose clothing.
What you need
- Daylight and a clear view of the pool's floor
Call a pro if
- A cover is missing, cracked or loose
- A screw is missing
- A cover looks faded or brittle
